Overview

When you look at a good image it can make you feel like a punch in the stomach. It can whisper you gently in the ear, making your mind go to another world; or it can provoke you, stir up emotions, bringing you to tears. This is what good photography does - touches you in a way that is hard to define in words.

Photographer Klaus Bjarner strives to bring you this kind of photography. To touch that special place in the soul, that only can be reached through art, no matter if it is photography, music or other kinds of visual expression.

As the founding father of photography Ansel Adams once said, "A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words."

    Portrait of an artist

Portrait of the Danish artist Xenia Lassen in her work shop near Grenaa in Denmark. Xenia is born in 1949 and a graduate from the Danish School of Design and the Royal Danish School of Art. The portrait is taken while I was doing a catalog shooting of some very special and beautiful lamps Xenia is producing. I wanted to portray Xenia in an artistic way, showing her dedication as an artist together with her art.

Walking around to get the right angle all of a sudden I saw Xenia through the lamp, and in that moment I knew what the portrait should look like. See the beautiful lamps by Xenia on her website www.xenialassen.com
