Overview

When you look at a good image it can punch you in the stomach so you lose all the air. It can whisper to you sweetly in the ear, making your mind go to another world. Or it can provoke you, stirring up emotions, bringing you to tears. This is what good photography does.

Klaus Bjarner creates photography that will punch you in the stomach and whisper to you gently in the ear. A photograph should evoke an emotional response.

As the founding father of photography and great inspiration of mine Ansel Adams once said, "A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words."

    Portrait of an artist

Portrait of the Danish artist Xenia Lassen in her work shop near Grenaa in Denmark. Xenia is born in 1949 and a graduate from the Danish School of Design and the Royal Danish School of Art. The portrait is taken while I was doing a catalog shooting of some very special and beautiful lamps Xenia is producing. I wanted to portray Xenia in an artistic way, showing her dedication as an artist together with her art.

Walking around to get the right angle all of a sudden I saw Xenia through the lamp, and in that moment I knew what the portrait should look like.
